New buyers: expect a few questions from us about your company and what the leaf is for. We ask everyone; see the compliance notice.
Making a useful enquiry
Before you send an enquiry
A good enquiry saves both sides time. These are the things that make the biggest difference.
- Say what the leaf is for. A cigarette plant, a shisha maker and a cigar factory need different things.
- Give numbers. A nicotine and sugar range tells us more than “mild” or “sweet”.
- State the form. Loose, hand-stemmed, machine-stemmed, strips or scraps.
- Name the port. The destination affects documents, packing and timing.
- Tell us your volume and how often. A single container and a monthly contract are different conversations.
- Mention special requirements. Packing, fumigation, residue tests, TSNA data or independent inspection should be mentioned at the start.
An example of a useful enquiry
We are a cigarette manufacturer registered in [country]. We need FCV machine strips, 2026 crop, nicotine 2.3 to 2.7%, sugar 9 to 11%, moisture 11 to 13% at shipment, stem under 2% and fines under 3%. One 20-ton container, C48 boxes, FOB Karachi, shipping to [port] in [month]. Please send a sample from the lot and an indicative price. We hold a tobacco manufacturer licence and can send it on request.
The figures are an illustration of how to write one, not our recommended limits.
What happens next
We read the enquiry, check it against what we hold and write back with questions or an offer. If we need to ask who you are or what the leaf is for, that is routine: we ask every new buyer. We use your details to answer you and to arrange the order. For the reasons behind our questions, see the compliance notice.
If you are not sure what to ask for
Many buyers are comparing options, not ready to write a specification. In that case, start with our tobacco leaf guide and the strips price list, and tell us your product and your current supplier’s numbers. We will suggest a starting point, and you can refine it from the sample.
Other routes and what we may ask
Other ways to reach us
Email is best for specifications and documents. WhatsApp is useful for quick questions and for photographs or video of a lot. Both are in the box above. Our offices are listed on this page, and the about page says who runs the company.
What we may ask you for
After your first message we may ask for some or all of the following: the company’s registered name and number; its address and website; the licence or permit that applies in your country; the intended use of the leaf; the destination port and consignee; and the document list your customs authority requires. We ask because tobacco is regulated and because a clear picture of the order lets us give an accurate offer. If you prefer to send these by email rather than the form, that is fine.
Tobacco is harmful to health. JKTabak supplies tobacco leaf to licensed commercial buyers only (manufacturers, processors, importers and distributors). The buyer is responsible for confirming that import, purchase and resale of tobacco is lawful in the destination country.
